Things to do in Mozambique
Set sail and fish some – The remarkable coastline is a fantastic magnet for fishermen, scuba divers, beach lovers and sailors alike.
Visit Mozambique Island and Quirimbas Archipelago – Mozambique Island with its crescent shape and a paltry 2.5 square kilometres has contributed more to the African coastal lifestyle than many places several times its size. Still the reawakening ghost town with a lively fishing community is a captivating destination. The Quirimbas Archipelago has about 20 islands and islets all filled with astounding natural beauty and surrounded by turquoise waters.
Visit Tofo – Few places have natural endowments that match Tofo’s magnitude. It has a wonderful balance of boundless white sands, azure waters and rolling breakers all in a place with eternal party-time atmosphere.
Visit the reserves teeming with African wildlife – Gorongosa National Park has quite a number of African animal species including elephants, lions and buffaloes. It also is a birds watchers’ paradise with about 400 birds species at any one time. Niassa Reserve also has these in addition to a section of the renowned Miombo Woodlands.
Mozambique has a wide array of accommodation offerings to match every pocket. There are quite a number of high-end facilities especially around the tourists’ hotspots. There also is a diverse collection of budget hotels, hostels and guesthouses as well as Bed and Breakfast establishments. The ease with which you can locate these facilities is another reason Mozambique is my #1 travel destination.
This southern African country is also relatively safe, has diverse and somewhat convenient modes of transport connecting the capital Maputo with major towns, the coastal resorts and all other places of interest. It also some of the most interesting and unique cuisines so it is little wonder why Mozambique is my #1 travel destination.
